Christians navigating the ‘cyberworld’

So, it turns out that our world has become prone to posting their lives in tiny little squares on a social media forum called Instagram.

It also happens to be a place where people feel obligated to share the “shining” moments in their lives because after all, the world is watching.

I say this because I’ve lived it. I’ve posted a picture of myself in one of my weakest, darkest times-and yet my soul was craving attention, it wanted man’s approval.

Could it be, however, that the world’s largest social media platforms could be used in order to bring glory and honor to God? Is there a place for a “little wretch” like me to shine brightly into the hearts and souls of those who are lost?

I believe the answer is yes. Because I’m kinda crazy enough to think that if I am going to post a picture of anything on social media, I want to be able to share the gospel with those who might actually want to listen.

Truthfully, I want to bring hope to those who are lost. My one desire is to share what the Lord has done in my life with others, and how He is able to do the same in their lives.

Social media apps, such as Instagram, has given me the chance to share Truth with others in the form of photography and scripture passages.

The only way I can make an impact in a person’s life is with the help of the Holy Spirit guiding and leading my every step.

I started this blog 3 years ago, today. My original intention with the blog was to share my personal struggles with others, but I was in no position to give any sort of advice or hope to others because I was still struggling.

The Lord, however, had other plans. He used this blog to be a testimony of His goodness, and I can say with confidence that He has already ministered to some of the readers.

Question: Do you use your social media apps to bring glory to God, or to yourself? A question we all need to ask ourselves on a regular basis. Because sometimes, it can be so easy to forget our purpose.

The truth is, we can use our online resources in order to reach others in a way glorifies Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Lord, for giving us the ability to use social media in order to bring glory to Your name. I pray Lord, that you would help each of us to make wise choices and give us discernment when using websites such as Instagram and Facebook. I pray that You would guard each of our hearts and minds while being exposed to all the bombarding messages that directly oppose Your Word. Help us, Lord, to meditate on Your Word and filter our thoughts so that we can produce good fruit. Help us to be Your vessels in everything we do and say, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. AMEN AMEN AMEN! Sara, you have just put me in awe! You have taken what I try and do on a daily basis and put it in a blog. I know I have put my weakest moments on social media, but I am so blessed to have a family, a church family and many friends out there praying for me on a daily basis. They are sharing with me correction and encouragement daily.
