Overwhelmed

Several times during this week, I’ve had multiple people say to me “I just need a vacation.” For the majority of students who are finishing up their last week of classes, it’s “crunch time”. For others, it’s the pressure of making sure they hit the “target” at work, or meeting a specific deadline… No matter what the case may be, there is Someone who knows everything you’re facing right now. He is reaching out His hand to help you, His name is Jesus.

Apart from the Lord, I don’t know what I would do. He has given me grace and strength to carry out all of the tasks I need to complete, but without His Spirit to guide me in all areas of life I would be a total mess. I have “tasted” and “seen” what the Lord’s love is, and I would never want to go back to living my life without Him.

A time I can re-call where the Lord kept me on the right path was when I first started in the nursing program. I was hesitant as to whether or not this career would be for me, because I was scared that I wouldn’t have the brains or the confidence to become a good nurse. I had endless conversations with my peers, family members, church members and student advisor’s at school. As I finally made a decision to drop out of the program and quit, the Lord stopped me from making a terrible decision.

Upon reading a certain bible verse, I was truly convicted about staying in the program because the Lord helped me to get this far already. How could He just abandon me part way through the program?

Here’s what the verse says: “It is to your advantage that not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you must also complete the doing of it’ that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have” 2 Corinthians 8:10-11

Who knew that reading scripture could make such a difference in someone’s life. I surely would have chosen to quit had it not been for the grace and mercy of the Lord speaking to me. God chose me to be in the nursing program and complete it as long as it’s still possible.

Taking the time to read the Word of God is not only beneficial to you, but it is essentially life’s road map which gives all directions, answers and wisdom to those who are willing to listen. It’s similar to a GPS, but unlike technology the bible is a thousand times more reliable and accurate…

Ever since the day I allowed Jesus to take control of my life, he has helped me to face all of life’s challenges and frightening situations with an obedient heart. Although there are times where I feel afraid to do something the Lord asks of me, I have set aside my fears by praying that He would assist me and guide me through each step in order to follow His plan. He is able to help you overcome your fears too, if you allow Him into your heart and change you.

By faith, ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins and make you a new creature.

I found these images on Pintrest this morning that are quite fitting for this message.

He truly makes all things new.
